Above the Clouds

The route, roughly.

Plans bend around weather, hosts and the occasional better idea. This is the shape of it.

1. Day 01–03

   Down to the valley

   Straight from Cusco to the lower valley to acclimatise slowly. Pisac market, and Rosa’s kitchen.

2. Day 04–06

   The Lares trek

   Three days on foot over the high pass, camping near weaving villages, with a team from Huilloc.

3. Day 07–08

   Machu Picchu

   The train to Aguas Calientes, the first bus up, and the Sun Gate before the crowds.

4. Day 09–10

   Ollantaytambo

   Rest days in the old Inca town: terraces, a cooking class, and long lunches.

5. Day 11–12

   Cusco

   Two nights in the city, a last pisco sour, and the flight home.
